Sponge film launches in Malawi December: Starring Faith Bvumbwe, Ben Wandawanda, Chawezi Munthali, Victor Kamwendo and Zambian Abby Njobvu
Sponge movie written and directed by United States (US) based Malawians Chawezi ‘Chaz’ Kabuzi Munthali, Wezi Chipeta and Ben Wandawanda comes to launch in Malawi in December.
The film which is produced by Mphongo Film Productions will premiere in Lilongwe at the Bingu International Conference Centre on December 16 and in Blantyre at the M-Theatre a day later.
This follows the film’s first premiere in Atlanta on August 27, It was also screened before its in Indiana last month.
With Faith Bvumbwe and Victor Kamwendo from Malawi and Abby Njobvu from Zambia as main actors, the movie tells the story of a Malawian woman who tries to balance life by trying to meet family and society expectations with matters of the heart in Atlanta, US.
Knowing that moral standards for women are different from those of men, Anna Guga (played by Bvumbwe) has to decide if love or infatuations are worth the trouble in the foreign land.
“This will be a red carpet event that promises to bring a Hollywood inspired feel with a cocktail party and question and answer session with the director, executive producer and the cast,” a statement from the producers reads.
“The event which will start at 5pm will serve as both the movie screening and a networking session so that the audience can mingle and gain some new business connections.”
Sponge which runs for 89 minutes was written and directed by Chaz, with Wezi Chipeta as executive producer.
