TNM first saw the need to construct a block at the school during the handover of desks through one of   the winners of the TNM Ufulu @ 50 promotion Pastor Narrison Gama who donated his K2 million prize money towards buying 61 desks for the school.

Speaking during the handover ceremony TNM Mpamba Trust Fund Board Member  Pastor Zacc  Kawalala said building of the school block at Mdidi school demonstrates company’s commitment in supporting government efforts in uplifting the standards of education in the country through the provision of good learning environment.

“TNM recognize education as a backbone of country’s socio-economic development company that is why as a company we have seen befitting to assist in the construction of this school block after we saw our pupils learning outside and it is TNM believe that this will enable the students to excel in their education,” said Kawalala.

Kawalala reaffirmed TNM’s commitment in assisting government in the provision of access to quality education country especially in rural areas.

“We know there are many other companies and organizations that are assisting in one way or another with various teaching and learning materials and infrastructures like this one. As TNM we believe together we can mount a big force that would surely fill this gap because government alone may not afford to assist every school,” he said.

M’didi Head Teacher Manson Chaweya said the school only had one block consisting of two classrooms against the population of 364 pupils.

“One of major challenges facing the school is lack of classrooms since the school had only one school block against 364 pupils  resulting into most pupils learning outside,” said  Chaweya.

Chaweya said with the addition block constructed by TNM will increase enrolment as it will provide good learning environment for pupils.

Group Village Head Ngoleka thanked TNM for continued support to the school.

“This is third time that TNM is coming to my area with assistance , the company was here with 61 desks and they also came  up  with initiative to plant  trees around this school,” said Ngoleka

Mdidi School is located in the area of Senior Chief Kuthembwe 35 km from Blantyre city and was opened in 1962.
