Unilever Malawi on Friday conducted the first draw of the “Omo wash and fly to Brazil” promotion which saw at least 31 customers winning prizes worth K2 million.
The company recently launched the 46-day promotion that will see four people getting a four-day all expenses paid trip to Brazil with USD1000 (about K450,000) spending money.
During the first draw, held at Unilever Malawi head office in Limbe, assorted prizes ranging from a washing machine, five DStv sets with a 3-month subscription, five irons, 15 soccer jerseys and five Unilever hampers went to winners drawn from across the country.
The first prize, a washing machine, went to Jane Makomba of Chirimba Township in Blantyre. According to her entry receipt, she bought five 500g Omo washing powder packets.
The promotion started running on April 1 and is expected to run until May 16, 2014.
According to Unilever Malawi marketing manager, Wongani Vinkhumbo, “the response has been fantastic”.
“It’s been over a week since the promo started and we’ve had a fantastic response from our consumers, there’s a lot of excitement,” she said.
While indicating that the draws will be conducted every two weeks, Vinkhumbo disclosed that the first ticket to Brazil will be won in the next draw slated for April 25.
“We are encouraging our customers to continue participating. There are a lot of other prizes to be won apart from the trip to Brazil, so we expect more entries,” said the Unilever Malawi top marketer.
To enter the promotion, customers are supposed to buy two packets of 500g or 1kg Omo washing powder, write their name, address and phone number behind the receipt and drop into Omo boxes at selected People’s Metro, Shoprite and Chipiku shops or the nearest Unilever key distributer points.
According to the company, the first phase of the promotion had more entries from Blantyre, with Lilongwe and Mzuzu coming second and third respectively.Follow and Subscribe Nyasa TV :
