University of Malawi guard’s private parts severed, dies

A 60-year-old Duncan Lemani who was security guard at Chancellor College, a constituent college of the University of Malawi in Zomba has died while receiving treatment at Zomba Central Hospital after unknown thugs severed his private parts on Saturday night.

Eastern Region Police spokesperson Thomeck Nyaude and hospital administrator Fredson Kambeni confirmed the death on Monday.

The deceased worked for CH Security Services in the old capital before meeting his fate.

He died late Sunday afternoon and burial takes place on Monday afternoon at his home Gumbwa Village, Traditional Authority Mwambo in the district.

Issues of cutting genitals have become very common in Malawi.

Private body parts of human beings are on a high demand in body part markets all over the world, for various reasons and it is believed that people sell the penis and testicles abroad where they believe that such can fetch a lot of money.
