Wife pours boiling water on cheating husband, arrested
At a time when the country is fighting men who abuse their spouses in gender-based violence, police in Mponela, Dowa are keeping in custody a 24 year-old woman, Linda Chikuse, who poured boiling water onto her husband’s body after finding out he had been unfaithful.
Mponela police publicist Kondwani Kandiado confirmed the development to Nyasa Times Tuesday saying the incident happened on Saturday, around 8 pm, in Makwani village where the two were residing.
“We have established that the suspect scalded her husband accusing him of having an extra marital affair,” the police spokesman said.
The woman reportedly tipped boiling water it onto her husband’s genitals.
The victim, a 27 year old man , sustained serious burns and was quickly rushed to Mponela rural hospital where he is currently battling for his life, according to the police publicist.
He added: “She [Chikuse] will appear before court soon to answer charges of unlawful wounding.”
Chikuse hails from Chulu village in the area of Traditional Authority Mponela in the district.
