15 State House servants fired on security grounds: Chisale architect of ‘unfair dismissal’

About 15 house servants and ground workers, who have been working at Sanjika Palace in Malawi’s commercial capital Blantyre since 2004, have complained of unfair dismissal from the State residence.

The workers are also accusing President Peter Mutharika’s Advisor on Security Affairs Paulos Norman Chisale of orchestrating their unfair dismissal.

House servants that have been fired, according to inside sources, include Damster Maoleka (Houseman), Saukila Nangwale (Chef), Stella Mwendera (Houselady), George Chitokoto (Waiter), Enos Kanyimbo (waiter), Henry Kambanje (Chef), Ian Christian (Laundryman), Leonard Mpasa (Houseman), Gladys Masanza (House lady), Violet Nyirongo (Assistant-housekeeper), Tonny Moto (Houseman) and William Tseteka (Houseman), among others.

Chisale is alleged to have unilaterally fired them to ensure safety of the incumbent President.

But despite being advised to stop reporting for duties, the house servants will be receiving their monthly perks.

Meanwhile, 46 drivers who were also removed from State House and reassigned to Plant and Vehicle Hire Organisation (PHVO), have claimed that their positions have been taken up by ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) youth cadets.

The drivers, who some claimed to have worked in the country’s state residences since 1980, say they have been unfairly treated as some have already been evicted from institutional houses without notices.

The first of group of drivers got their letters of redeployment from the Office of the President and Cabinet on July 4. Two days later, another lot of 15 drivers received their redeployment letters before the last group of 19.

“It is not like we are clinging to be working at the state residence but we are here at the PHVO premises just playing bawo because government has nothing to with us because our positions have been taken up by DPP young democrats,” claimed one of the drivers.

  9. I fear for my country. I thought JB’s Government had no direction, but I think this is worse. After more that a 100 days in office, one keep guessing where APM is taking us to. Every day you wake up wondering who has been fired “redeployed”. Is this the work of his 15 plus advisers or his own works. Should I blame his many advisers? Remember too many hands spoil the broth.

    Why should we pay people for doing nothing? Why should we pay two people for the same post in some organizations. I thought it is common sense that one becomes careful with his or her expenditure when (s)he has less unlike when there is abundant and is reckless. Indeed, common sense is not common to some people. As a country we are struggling to meet our budget in the wake of the zero aid budget but someone thinks we can afford this luxury.

Let’s look back at things that happened way back but never spoken and things! Its to me normal! How can I work with someone I don’t trust, can you?

If this so called apm will not change bad ways of his late brother the fate will follow him later or sooner, remember no amount of security is perfect apart from trusting GOD. Fear GOD respect him and his creatures then you can stay longer. If apm will start thing like his brother believe me soon he will be taken away from this earth he is but a mere human being just like you and me. Those who are thinking that dausi or who ever can protect your so god father you are cheating yourself and you are but idiots. Let him do the will of GOD and he shall live long other wise he will also go just like anybody’s else will and his soul will rest in hell like his elder brothers stupid cadets and mulankhos.

  12. Peter Mthalika is not fit for president. Why did some imbeciles vote for him? He has no clue how to unify this country. All he knows is pushing people around and replacing them with his henchmen instead of working to get our donors back and get the economy up and running. This man called APM is a real idiot. And the Lomwes are all smiles and ululating. This country is thrown to the dogs and is stinking and sinking. We should not just watch this; I’m happy we’ll soon clear this mess.

  26. Drivers working for state house since 1980, the Kamuzu era? That’s 34 years. How safe can that be for our president? Some of these people should have retired years ago.It’s also true that those house men, house women, house children etc are a security risk. What purpose do they truly serve? Especially if they worked under the previous administrations. Can they be trusted? We don’t want to wake up one of these days and hear that APM has had a ”heart attack”. State House are within their rights getting rid of this deadwood. Just give them nice packages and let them go…..

    Why didn’t Kamuzu, Bakili, Bingu and Joyce question their loyalty and commitment? Why this government? Why Chisale and who is Chisale? WHat powers does he have to dismiss such people?
