2 independent MPs join UDF, DPP

Independent Members of Parliament (MPs) for Nsanje South West, Dr. Joseph Malunga and Mangochi Masongola, Rashid Msusa Pemba communicated to the Speaker of Parliament on Tuesday that people from their constituencies have advised them to switch to various political parties.

The development comes after consultations from the people in their constituencies that they should choose a party they are willing to work with which will help bring tangible developments to their constituencies.

Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Esther Mcheka Chilenje said Member of Parliament for Nsanje South West will be switching to the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) and Member for Mangochi Masongola to United Democratic Front (UDF).

Chilenje made the announcement in the August House during the Parliament session on Tuesday.

The two Members of Parliament will be changing seats in parliament to the new respective seats as arranged by the Speaker of Parliament.
