Church Donates K15 Million Worth of Items to Football Legends
Finish Line Ministry has donated assorted clothing and shoes valued at K15 million to the Football Legends Association of Malawi (FLAM), in recognition of the organisation’s efforts to support former football players.

The ministry has also pledged to provide K2.5 million annually for four years to help the legends venture into small-scale business enterprises.
The donation was presented on Saturday at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre, where the ministry’s overseer, Bishop Yohane Lovemore Kaphesi, said the gesture reflects the church’s commitment to giving back to the community.
“We have donated 45 boxes of clothing, including shirts, trousers, and shoes, to support our football legends. As a church, we have a responsibility to care for the public. These legends made the country proud during their prime, and they deserve our support,” said Kaphesi.
He added that the items were mobilised from well-wishers in Ohio, USA, and are meant to help the beneficiaries either use them personally or share with their families.
FLAM Board of Trustees General Secretary, Solomon Gomezgani Mchawi, applauded the ministry for the timely support.
“This donation will go a long way in improving the welfare of our legends. We are grateful that even the church recognises the importance of supporting those who once brought glory to the nation,” he said.
Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture, Alfred Gangata, who graced the event as guest of honour, commended Finish Line Ministry for its generosity and continued support to the football community.
Finish Line Ministry is also preparing to celebrate 40 years of ministry work in Malawi.
