3 from Mzuzu progress to Miss Malawi finals

Miss Malawi Beauty Pageant  has selected three contentats going into the finals  from the second round of  regional finals  held at Grand Palace Hotel in Mzuzu on Saturday.

The contestants going to the national finals on May 29 next year are Tadala Uta, Miwasy Nyirenda and Vanessa Mtegha.

The contest is jointly organised by  Zodiak Broadcasting Station (ZBS) and Nation Publications Limited (NPL).

Judges  Wilkins Mijiga and Tadala Chihana said they were convinced three who are progressing to the finals are capable of winning the crown.

Miwasy Nyirenda is  Mzuzu University (Mzuni) Bachelor of Education student who has been the second princess in the 2013 Miss Mzuni Beauty Pageant.

She was also the first Princess in the 2014 Miss O Seasons Beauty Pageant whereas in 2015, she was one of the models in the Mzuzu Fashion Week.

Tadala Uta is a journalism student at Lilongwe Technical College Twho dified all odd to get a slot after she complained that some people have been trying to bring her confidence down with discouraging words.

Vanessa Mtegha is an entrepreneur.

The contestants paraded in traditional, office, evening, casual and swim wear.

Others who contested in the regional finals included  a 22-year-old student in textile and designing at Phwezi Technical College Sally Khethiwe Nyirenda; University of Livingstonia graduate Yewo Gondwe and Ester Chiviya, 25, a diploma level student at the Mzuzu Technical College.

Lusubilo Banda from Karonga entertained the audience.
