Muluzi was attacked when a gang of 12 broke into his house through a hole they drilled in the perimeter fence in the backyard and made their way into the house.

The incident happened Friday last week.

Police said the gang also broke into the minister’s bedroom where they demanded cash and took away electronic gadgets and other valuables.

Lilongwe Police Station spokesperson Kingsley Dandaula said the law enforcers have since arrested three suspects after a tip-off from the public.

“We are still hunting down the other suspects. But we the arrested suspects will be taken to court,” said Dandaula.

Police have withheld names of the three suspects for fear of jeopardising investigations.

Meanwhile, Muluzi has changed houses after the robbery which has attracted different conspiracy theories from the public.

Recently, robbers also broke into the State Vice President Saulos Chilima’s  Mudi Residence. They were caught as well.

Its only in Malawi where bandits and thieves have the courage to rob the presidents house. This clearly shows you that thieves know about how insecure the second citizen is. Atupele shouldn’t be surprised. Lets be honest, the Police should do more. Its should be proactive. Engage in more patrols. Seeks assistance from the army if need be.

Mob Justice is the solution. Zomati these thieves will be taken to court is nonsense. Which court are you talking about. The court will take 3yrs before judgement is given and the judgement will be 1 year suspended sentence. I have no kind words for our courts which are said to be manned by learned pple.
