61-year-old arrested for impregnating teen daughter
Police in Nsanje district have arrested 61-year-old Mateyo Luwizhi for inappropriate sexual contact with his 15-year-old step daughter, the authorities have confirmed.
The district’s police Officer in-Charge, Assistant Commissioner Sekani Tembo, said the suspect had been sexual assaulting the Standard 4 girl (name withheld) for over three months.
“He was arrested on Tuesday [November 8] after we got a tip from women’s organization called Dinde Women Forum,” disclosed Assistant Commissioner Tembo.
It is said the suspect took advantage as his wife is currently in Mozambique where she went for farming, together with the husband’s two biological children.
The girl, who was left behind to be helping Luwizhi with household chores, is said to have fled the home on several occasions to avoid the experiences she was going through.
Meanwhile, according to a report from Nsanje district medical personnel, the victim is four moths pregnant.
Luwizhi hails from Nthukuso village, Traditional Authority Malemia in Nsanje district. He is expected to appear in court soon to be prosecuted on an offence of unlawful intercourse.
