75 year old woman die due excessive beer drinking in Balaka

A 75 year old woman has died in talaka after taking too much locally brewed Malawian beer commonly known as Kachasu without eating any food.

Balaka Police Deputy Publicist Gerald Sumaili identified the deceased as Malita Joseph and hails from Mkweya Village in the Area of Traditional Authority Chanthunya in the same district of Balaka.

Sumaili said Joseph left her home to her usual drinking place without returning home for three consecutive days only to be found dead at a Dambo area within her area.

According to the Police Publicist, postmoterm conducted at Balaka Hospital reavealed that Joseph’s death was caused due to excessive drinking of alcohol without eating.

In a related development, a 9 year old boy Henry Kagwa has also died after drowning in Rivirivi River where he went to graze cattle along the river banks.

According to Police report, the young boy’s ordeal happened when he decided to take a bath in the river and there was no one to serve his life.

He hails from Kachilunda Village in the Area of Traditional Authority Nsamala in Balaka district.
