MCP spokesperson Jessie Kabwila said the mediation would bring the party back to its grorious days when it thrived on four corner stones of unity, discipline, obedience and loyalty.

“This will help the party to iron out its problems ahead of the 2019. Time is running out for the preparations of the elections,” said Kabwila.

MCP president Lazarus Chakwera is facing dissent within the party from senior officials; Jessie Kabwila, Felix Jumbe and Chatinkha Chidzanja Nkhoma.

Chakwera is also said to have fallen out with Joseph Njobvuyalema.

The rebel MCP officials are accusing Chakwera of nepotism, dictatorial tendencies among other accusations.

“We hope the Right Honourable Tembo will deal with the facts on the ground in order that we move forward,” she said.

She could however not say when the talks will take place.
