Coaches not to blame, says Coxley Kamange
Former Be Forward Wanderers supporters committee general secretary Coxley has backed coaches in Malawi instead bashing players for impotency.
Kamange backed newly recruited Belgian expatriate coach for the national team Ronny Van Geneugden in the face of the team’s poor run in his three games in charge.
His remarks come in the wake of deluge of criticism levelled at coaches including Malawi’s flagship football league, TNM Super League teams such as Nyasa Big Bullets, Civil Sporting Club, Dwangwa United. He said players should be committed to help their team.
Bullets, one of the country’s most decorated, issued a 5-game ultimatum to Burundian coach Nsazwirimo Ramadhan after a poor start characterized by their exit in the inaugural Airtel Top 8.
“You cannot blame the coaches when the players are not scoring. Since Chiukepo Msowoya, who is joint second top goal scorer last season with 16 goals left Bullets have been struggling to score,” he said.
While at Civil he said the newly recruited coach Franco Ndawa is yet to settle down.
He said the situation has a ripple effect to the national team’s performance.
“It’s fair to blame the national team coach because it is the same players who are failing to score at their club,” he said.
In a related development he blamed administrators for coming up with unrealistic targets and ultimatum when they are part of the problem.
