Mabedi appointed assistant coach for Kaizer Chiefs
Malawi football legend Patrick Mabendi has been appointed assistant coach for South Africa’s Premier Soccer League side Kaizer Chiefs , the club have confirmed.

The 43 year old former Malawi skipper who played for the Amakhosi from 1998 to 2006 also captained the team between 2003 and 2006.
He left the club in 2006 and later joined Moroka Swallows where he finished his playing career.
During his stay at the club, he won two back to back league titles in 2003/04 and 2004/05.
According to a statement released on the club official website, Mabedi who will be deputising Steve Komphela has penned a two year deal which starts on 1st July 2017.
He was over the moon with the development saying it was going back to his roots. “I am happy to be back home.”
He added: “I look forward to making a great contribution to this great institution. This is a privilege I would like to thank the club management for this opportunity.”
The soft spoken coach was appointed while serving as head coach for Cape Town All Stars which is affiliated to South Africa’s second tier league.
The former Kaizer Chiefs and Flames international is regarded as one of the greatest and respected legends from the foreign land to have dawn the Kaizer Chiefs jersey.
This guy Mabedi someone should speak to him. While he is doing well abale ake kuno akuvutika. He has a young brother Mavuto who is suffering without help.

Congratulations to Patrick Mabedi. You deserve to serve Chiefs in that capacity as you contributed a lot to the club during your time as a captain under coach late Ted Demitru. You captained Chiefs to win 2 back to back league championships and also numerous trophies. I hope your presence will bring success to the club. Welcome home Patrick!
