United Hands of Balaka aids District Hospital: Admin calls for more support
A grouping of Malawians called United Hands of Balaka (UNIHAB) over the weekend donated various items at Balaka District Hospital, and the administrator has since appealed for more help.
The group members on Saturday 10th June visited the hospital and apart from handing over the assorted items; they also took time to help cleaning the hospital wards.
The donated items include buckets, mops, blooms, mopping liquid, soap, sugar, sanitary kits worth K300,000.00.
Hospital administrator, Linley Kutengule hailed the grouping for its timely gesture, and appealed for more help as the hospital continues to experience various challenges in its service delivery.
“As a hospital we are happy for the donation. We need more help, and we hope well-wishers will continue to assist us,” said Kutengule.
Apart from medical supply challenge, the hospital requires new treating beds, wheel-chairs and other necessities.
UNIHAB Organizing Chairperson, John Evance Kapasule said the donation came about as good will gesture, and pledged to do more for the district.
“We noted the hospital has many problems. As a group we want to contribute to the development of the district. We noted that the hospital needs our help, and the donation is one way of giving back to the community,” said Kapasule.
He has since urged those that come from Balaka district to join the group inorder to assist in improvement the social welfare of the people in the district.
