Moyale coach to assist Chitipa United
Chitipa United’s below-average performance in the elite TNM Super League has attracted sympathy from Moyale Football Club Assistant Coach who has decided to support the new super league entrants so that they become more competitive.
The coach for Mzuzu-based soldiers’ team, Charles Kamanga, said he is willing to provide coaching services to the new side so that they are able to hold pressure and survive in the country’s elite TNM Super League.
Kamanga said his decision to assist in mentoring Chitipa United was for the sake of growth of football in Northern Region.
“We already have fewer teams participating in the TNM Super League from the Northern Region, and a possible exit for Chitipa United from the league cannot be good news because that reduces chances for the teams from the region to win the league. Personally, I want to do everything possible to help the team stay in the league,” said Kamanga.
While emphasizing the fact that he is Moyale FC Assistant Coach, Kamanga said he was making the move for the sake of football development in the region and the entire country.
“The region has talented players and it is my wish to see it compete ably against teams from other regions. I have already discussed this with the chairperson for Northern Region Coaches Association and have received a go-ahead,” he said, adding that he was expected to begin the task within this week.
Chitipa United General Secretary, Marshall Mwenechanya, welcomed the move, stating that Kamanga’s expertise was what the team needed.
“We welcome the news of assistance from coach Kamanga, especially now when we are in a critical stage,” he said.
Chitipa United are on position 16 with just one point and a single goal scored from seven games. They have conceded 11 goals.
The only meaningful resistance they offered was against the Peoples’ Team Nyasa Big Bullets in their first encounter in the league at Mzuzu Stadium.
