Prince Harry in Malawi elephant safari jolly: At Mvuu Camp

Britain’s  Prince Harry, who is fifth in line for the throne, is staying at Mvuu camp in the Liwonde National Park, where he will help care for elephants.

Prince Harry on Safari at Malawi Mvuu Camp

Harry, 32, is in Malawi without girlfriend Meghan Markle. His ten-day safari at the £350-a-night camp means he will miss several royal engagements – including Ascot over the last four days.

This is a second time for Harry to be in Malawi for a safari.

In 2016 he travelled there to volunteer as a helicopter pilot.

Harry also caused controversy with comments given to a US magazine where he claimed that his dad Charles, and brother weren’t that keen on the throne.

He said: “Is there any one of the Royal Family who wants to be king or queen? I don’t think so, but we will carry out our duties at the right time.

“The monarchy is a force for good and we want to carry on the positive atmosphere the Queen has achieved for over 60 years, but we won’t be trying to fill her boots.

“We are not doing this for ourselves but for the greater good of the people.”

Julius Phiri, the royal guy is a former British soldier having retired in the British Army in February 2015. He had a stint in Afghanistan, and is aware of the essence of remembering military science when it comes to personal security. A few years ago he “slapped” some paparazzi that were stalking him at a private venue. His father was also a soldier and serviced in the Falkland War in 1982 in which the might of the British Army got the better of Argentina to recapture the Falkland Islands from the “Argies”.

What a humble Prince, sleeping at Mvuwu Camp to volunteer flying a Helicopter, abandoning all official royal family duties. Malawi must utilize such visits to promote the tourism industry.

£350 per night translates to MK325,000. Where in Malawi do we have such a lodge? Don’t take advantage of the young prince.

Otherwise treat him nicely, he will come back with his fiance and propose there.

This is one of the good news. Malawi should really invest in Tourism. We have beautiful natural resources like mountains, lakes and plateaus that can attract tourists, if these can be well maintained and build. Hotels and good roads to the mountains and lakes can bring and attract investors in Malawi. Roads to Mangochi/Monkey bay… Nyika plateaus…Mulanje mountains, lakeshore should be two way and well maintained. Compare with how lakeshore is built in Mozambique especially when you drive through Maputo along the ocean route to Katemba or something island. Beautifully build. Govt can find either a funder for these projects… Read more »
