Luncheza alumni hands over two projects worth K1.6 million

Luncheza Alumni Organization (LAO) has committed themselves to pay back to the school for their successes, as they handed over two projects to the their alma mater worth K1.6 million.

The alumni’ national chairperson, Andrew Saonda said the organization also wants to initiate various development projects at the school so that learners and staff operate in a good environment.

Last weekend, the alumini donated exercise books, writing materials and refurbishment of school blocks including redoing the sign post of the school. All of these projects costed the alumina a sum of K1.6 million.

Saonda said the money was sourced from the members of the grouping. Currently, he said they have three chapters namely, Southern, Central and eastern.

He also hinted that they have plans to help needy students with school fees at college level, find scholarships for them   to study abroad and link them to other international schools for purposes of exchange visits.

Saonda said currently, they have a membership of 65, and insists they are geared to solving some of the challenges at the school.

“We want to help in maintenance of school infrastructure such as hostels, classroom blocks and provide ICT [Information and Communications Technology] equipment for the school to enhance research and widen the range of reference materials for students,” he said.

He said they observed that the hostels were dilapidated and that there was broken sewer system at the school, among other challenges.

“We also noted that there is only one flush toilet in some hostels instead of the normal five. This is a health hazard which needs to be addressed.

“As an organization, we will make sure that we mobilize as many resources as possible so that we address the challenges,” Saonda said.

He then asked all former students as well as companies and organizations’ to come and help the organization with whatever they have to address the challenges at the school.

In his remarks, the Headmaster of the school, Rodgers Gomani hailed the alumin and urged companies to emulate their example.

“Government alone cannot manage to address some of these challenges. We are very grateful and looking forward to work with you in addressing some of the challenges this school is encountering,” he said.
