Kampepuza fatal accident kills 17: Scores injured

1. May the souls of the deceased rest in peace and the injured , we wish them a quick recovery. The idea of moving all road side markets was proposed by late president Bingu Wamutharika unfortunately, he passed away before implementation took place. This should be taken seriously to move all road side markets off all our main roads possibly by two hundred or more meters off the roads. Once established , people will get used to the arrangement and those who want to buy will make a turn to the market place. Lets please put first, safety of our small scale business sisters , brothers, mothers and fathers .

6. Sad indeed. This is great loss of life. Hope the Government will consider relocating these roadside markets. This could happen again if nothing is done about it.

7. It’s a wake up call for the people and authorities. We tend to bury our heads in the sand. Now the authorities will act decisively.too late.

8. So why arrest the driver when the cause of the accident is not known. Police ya ku Malawi nso ndi mavuto okhaokha. The fact of the matter is simple the truck could not stop, why? It’s breaking system failed. That should be the cause of the accident. So if you arrest the driver, you might as well arrest the owner of the truck because the owner also has a responsibility to ensure that the truck is well maintained and roadworthy.

   1. Wel said and I have never seen truck drivers being tested. One wonders how they get HGV Driver’s licence. Then there are these mashrooming political free driving schools which will obviously produce half baked drivers

9. There was a time Government wanted to relocate all these road side markets to safer distances. What happened? All these road side markets should relocate immediately. I know this is campaign period and it may be a tricky issue. But please please after the elections, Government should take this action without looking in someone’s eyes.

   We are grieving our brothers and sisters as a result of floods and now this!! Oh God, save us, Save us, Save us, in Jesus name.

       to avoid an necessary loss of lives of the innocent people.

16. Very sad…but suffice to say our local government and district councils have not done anything to stop trading right on the road side. I think it’s high time all main roads remove markets from the roadside or divert the road just as Dedza district.

17. This is very bad. We need to keep on praying for Malawi during this period.

18. Very sad…. The truck hitting stationary vehicles implies it developed a fault and there are So many unanswered questions but I will wait till I hear the full story and investigation… May the Good Lord console the bereaved families.

    1. MS6 their souls rest in peace. To say few words most truck drivers take themselves as very special on the road. They don’t respect others. Tolerance should be paramount by all road users. Most of the road accidents happening in our roads we don’t fail to mention a truck. Please truck drivers learn to respect other road users.
