Prophet Bushiri submits himself to Malawi police, takes bold step to seek justice

Prophet Shepherd Bushiri  and his wife Mary Wednesday morning handed themselves over t before law enforcement agencies at Area 30  Malawi Police Headquarters in Lilongwe as part his mission in Malawi to seek justice, spokesperson for Bushiri and Enlightened Christian Gathering Ephraim Nyondo has confirmed to Nyasa Times.

Nyondo said  its’ only a normal process where he wants to legally explain and defend his decision to come to Malawi.

He ndicated that during public address on Saturday, Bushiri hinted that he will  submit himself before law enforcement agencies in Malawi, any day, to legally explain  and defend his decision to come to Malawi to seek justice that’s what he’s done .

Nyondo added that Prophet Bushiri is still an innocent person until proven guilty.

“As of now, there is no court in the world that has proven Bushiri guilty. He may be subjected by media and public trial but he maintains his innocence until otherwise by a competent court and fair trial,” he said.

South Africa has issued an arrest warrant for Bushiris, who skipped bail and returned home to Malawi.

On Saturday he told his social media followers that he had left South Africa because he had received death threats.

The preacher, who was on bail and awaiting trial for money laundering and fraud, had previously said he wanted to clear his name.

It is not clear how or when Bushiri left South Africa but he announced his arrival in Malawi on Saturday morning.

Parliament in south africa is angry as to how he was let go..and to try to convince the parliament that the authorities did their best..the authorities are explaining that they searched and suspected malawi presidents encouraged and researched then delaying them but there was no sign of bushiri. So in short..the whole govtment and authority of south african detained our president thinking that he was planning to aide a suspected criminal to escape that’s is very low regard to our president and the nation. There in opposition to that treatment which undermined the president.. malawi court should find that bushiri claim for fear of his life are founded and therefore not surrender him..as a reaction to the lack of respect shown by south Africans.. Malawi contributes more to south africas economy than what south africa contributes to MALAWIS economy and thus was the talk between chakwera and ramaposa..malawi export only K1 for every K3 spent on south african imports.

  8. One thing I have learned from the Bushiri saga is that a lot of Malawians are people who are driven by jealous given the comments in this website. They are unreasonable. One of your own has escaped from persecution in South Africa and you are insisting that he be sent back. What kind of people are you? Have you not seen how the South African media has gone to town trying to tarnish this man’s image and the coverage given to Prophet Mboro. People have been organized to give false testimony and no one can escape that kind of falsehoods especially when the law enforcement and politicans are compromised.   10. Bushiri skipped Bail in RSA? I thought he stated he does not intend to free the country, then he does exactly the opposite! What type of a Prophet lies? He is free because he lied and yet he preach to his followers to be honest. I don’t understand this man.

  12. if someone crosses boarders without using proper channels – then it means that he has breached immigration laws and as such he should be taken to an immigration detention centre – no bail – until this issue is resolved. fraud, money laundering and deception will be next in line. this guy has an inflated image of himself – trim him to size – period!

If the Malawian government cannot hand Bushiri back to SA for trial then theyre being short sighted, and it will be a huge diplomatic blunders…. in the long run Malawians especially those in SA will not have it easy… As of Bushiri he May have dug himself a hole that will be difficult for him to come out, it will be difficult for him to obtain visas to go else where as he is reporter to be a fugitive.. Soon his coffers will start to run dry and he need a powerful and reach country to perfom his antics and Malawi is definately not one them, people of this country are too power to afford his luxurious life style

  18. This is exactly what Prophet Bushiri mentioned on Saturday, he would hand himself over to authorities in Malawi, exactly as he did in SA. Now he’ll apply for bail and be granted and stay home safely in Malawi until SA says they’re ready for the Court date for the case to be heard. So all is on track, Prophet Bushiri is also ready to clear his name, but it was the State in South Africa that was not ready. I’m a South African and proud son of Major 1. Malawians you don’t know the God’s gift you have in Prophet Bushiri. He’s going through these legal persecutions and such unfounded allegations because of his God given gift. Up to today SA, or the Hawks investigation has no evidence to bring in Court for the Case to be heard, but it’s allegations that we hear. I pray that the this case be heard in Malawi Courts. If God allows it to be heard in SA Courts, let the date come early, no more postponement games played by the State.

RSA justice system tried to be just on him by providing him bail so he can be at the comfort of his home (in RSA) while preparing for the court case…. BUT guess what??? he chose to skip the country through illegal channels. Believe me Sir/Mam there is no way Hawks can arrest you without a prosecutable evidence at hand…. Yours as a charged person is to prove your innocence…. Shepard chose to disappear and use Gods name in vain for that matter.

      1. Case #1 started in 2019 and I have lost count of how many times it was postponed, now remanded to May 2021. Why? because the State is not ready, but yet they were quick to arrest.

      2. A chewa have a saying, “oipa amathawa yekha”. He knows that his case is hopeless. He has no chance of winning the case that is why he has fled South Africa. He wants to drag the extradition proceedings as long as possible and most likely flee to a country that has no extradition treaty with South Africa

    He has now handed himself over and most likely will get bail whilst waiting for the extradition case in our courts which will take forever. Meanwhile life goes on.

  23. What ever Chakwera does, he must remember that he made a list of demands for the 1 million Malawians who live and work in SAfrica. If they fail to hand over Bushiri, Ramaphosa could simply start deporting and cancel all those agreements.

    2. Malawi is a member of Interpol. Its Interpol that issued a warrant of arrest in Pretoria, so Malawi being a member , that’s why they have arrested him. Mot necessarily that the Malawi government is arresting him as a Malawi government.

The problem now is SA police have put a Red Tape with Interpol which begins Thursday, when they arrested they will remain in jail waiting for extradition. If the process takes 10yrs, they will be in jail 10yrs waiting to be extradited.
    They should have stayed in SA on bail in their own house. Those cases would have collapsed, you never know. Big mistake they made.

    3. Hahahaa! You don’t know the law. He can’t remain in jail for 10 years. Interpol interdicts are not the final law. They can be fought against in any competent court of law just like any interdict by the police. Bushiri is a well measured man and his moves are well calculated with legal advisers who know what the law regarding extradition of suspects says. There is already enough evidence from the utterances of several South African government officials in both personal and official capacity that Bushiri will not have a fair trial. In their eyes, he is already guilty and the court just needs to rubber stamp by giving him a guilty sentence. It’s only savages who don’t know South Africans who rush to condemn Bushiri and disregard the concerns he’s raised regarding the threat on his life and that of his family and the fairness of the judicial system in SA for foreigners like him. South Africa is a well known xenophobic country and they will use the law to disguise their acts of xenophobia just to get at a foreigner whom they perceive to be succeeding than the locals.
