Mwenefumbo quits DPP, as exodus continues
It never rains but pours for the former ruling DPP as more senior member continue to jump ship, the latest being flamboyant director of youth Frank Mwenifumbo.
Mwenifumbo a well known “die hard” of DPP claims to have resigned on personal grounds according to party secretary general Wakuda Kamanga.
His resignation comes a day after his bitter rival Khumbo Kachali from ruling peoples party has been appointed vice president of Malawi.
Mwenifumbo who was a close ally of late president Bingu wa Mutharika has since been replaces by deputy minister Rev Christopher Ngwira.
This follows his claims on Monday that the North is now the home of the People’s Party (PP).
Mwenefumbo and former DPP regional director of youth Boniface Mkandawire, aka Gotani wa Gotani, claimed all regional committee members now support PP “as DPP proved to be a dictatorial party.”
Said Mwenefumbo: ” Who are we not to succumb and bow in shame in what we stood for?”
He said though President Banda has declared there will be no vengeance, it is proper that all DPP members should still bow down and apologise as no one was innocent.
