Bullets want FAMA Cup finals in Blantyre
Big Bullets FC has written the organisers of the Fellowship Association of Malawi (FAMA) Cup to to shift their finals encounter with Blue Eagles to be played in Blantyre.
The epic battled is scheduled to take place on the 12th May at Civo Stadium in the capital city of Malawi.
The finals were supposed to be played on April 7 at the same venue but they were cancelled off after the death of the former Head of State Bingu wa Mutharika.
Bullets were told of the last minute cancellation while they already travelled to the capital city.
Big Bullets general secretary Higger Mkandawire told MIJ FM Sport that they want the finals to take place in the commercial city of Malawi, Blantyre because they cannot afford to spend for the second time.
“We used a lot of money to travel to Lilongwe and this time we cannot manage to spend again. Our friends (Blue Eagles) have sponsors and they can afford to come to Blantyre, “said Mkandawire.
Mkandawire also stressed that they want the finals to be staged in Blantyre because many fans for the team are based in the commercial city.
He argued that in Blantyre the charity would be able to make more money through gate takings than in the capital.
“This does not mean that we are fearing them in Lilongwe but with the reasons l have given you we feel it is better to play the finals in Blantyre,” said Mkandawire, whose team started preparing both the cup final and 2012-2013 league on Tuesday, April 17.
However, FAMA spokesman Joseph Majekete says the organisers will help Bullets in logistics like accommodation to travel to the capital for the finals, where the winner will pocket K3 million
