Silver wins first game with coach Ndawa: Standard Bank Cup

Franco Ndawa says his time in charge of Silver Strikes could have turned out very differently if they had lost the first game of his reign against Blue Eagles.

Ndawa guided the Bankers to a 3-1 winin a Standard Bank Cup top 8 first leg played at Silver Stadium in the capital Lilongwe.

Ndawa -sacked at Mighty Wanderers- has been appointed Silver coach replacing Thom Mkorongo who has been guiding the club currently sitting at the summit flagship Malawi TNM Super League.

Ndawa: Off to a flying start

“It was my first game but if we hadn’t won it could have been bad. It was important to get that first win to instil a little bit of belief and confidence. That was a very important game,” said Ndawa to Nyasa Times.

Ndawa asaid there is “a lot of quality and ambition” in the Silver squad.

The Bankers scored through midfielder Frank Banda late in the first half.

After resumption, Silver increased the tally with goals from Harvey Nkacha and Rodrick Gonani .

Eagles consolation goal came from Innocent Bokosi from the penalty spotollowing a handball by a Silver defender.
