‘Occupy Mzuzu’ Lulu, Blakjak, Sipe, Natasha with DJ Cool
As artists in the country are busy entertaining their fans across the nation during the festive season, musicians Lulu, Blakjak as well as ex-Malawi Big Brother Africa (BBA) reps Natasha and Sipe will on Saturday be in Mzuzu.
The artists are billed to perform at two venues in the northern city, with the first show slated for Saturday afternoon at Mzuzu Tourist Lodge and then an after-party show at the Key Lounge later in the evening.
Apart from Lulu, Blakjak and the former BBA housemates, who are expected to perform their respective songs, for the first time in Mzuzu, music lovers in the city will also be treated to live performances by Rejected and Janta as well as DJ performances by DJ Cool, DJ Scarpper and DJ Sluggard.
The two shows have been organized by deejay-cum-musician and promoter DJ Cool.
“I decided to bring the two BBA celebs to Mzuzu because people have been asking why events organisers only host ‘welcome back’ [for BBA participants] in Blantyre and Lilongwe only.
“So DJ Cool has heard the voice of Mzuzu people, thereby Sipe and Natasha will be in the city this weekend,” DJ Cool told Nyasa Showbiz. He indicated that Blakjak will not be performing at Mzuzu Tourist Lodge as he had only been booked to perform at Key Lounge in the evening.
Natasha, who was in BBA The Chase last year, before her one-week stint during the 2014 BBA Hotshots, is expected to perform her latest track alongside Janta titled “#TIA This Is Africa” and according to DJ Cool, Sipe has a number of tracks which she will be performing.
“Apart from her previous songs, we [DJ Cool and Sipe] will also perform a song we have collaborated called ‘He Go Know’. It’s a DJ Cool beat but the song has been recorded by Janta,” revealed Cool, while indicating that the audio track was not yet complete for release.
Said DJ Cool: “It’s a dope tune and am sure Malawi and the rest of Africa will love it.”
Meanwhile, Lulu is expected to perform in the green city alongside his Mathumela Band following his failure to perform at the previous show also organized by DJ Cool called ‘Summer Returns’ which also attracted Zambia’s hip-hop queen Cleo Ice Queen.
Reportedly, the Lilongwe-based celebrated singer-guitarist and producer did not show up for the last show, a development which angered Mzuzu fans.
DJ Cool has since assured the people from Mzuzu that Lulu and his entire crew will be performing at the two venues come this Saturday.
“Everything is agreed upon and Lulu and the whole of his band will be there,” assured DJ Cool who has worked with artists like Maskal, Piksy, Cleo, Gwamba, Nesnes, Sulu (from Zambia), among others.
