Silver coach under fire as board demands reinforcement
Silver Strikers Coach Stain Chirwa has come under heavy criticism following the team’s recent poor showing in the first round of the 2015 K90 Million TNM Super League.
The Bankers have lost six out of the 13 games they have played so far and seats on position seven of the 15 member log table with 19 points.
Former club Chairman Macdonald Mafuta Mwale, who resigned few months ago due to pressure at his work place but now a board member, said losing six games is not healthy to a team of Silvers caliber hence a need for reinforcement.
“We haven’t performed well and to lose six games out of thirteen is not good for us. It is very important we reinforce the team” Mafuta Mwale said in an interview with a local radio on Wednesday.
But Mafuta Mwale said he is very optimistic that things will turn out for better and people should not completely rule out Silver for the championship.
On his part, Club General Secretary Fred Kalonga said the overall target for the coaches is to bring positive results.
“The overall target is to perform well and bring results. We always tell them to bring good results” said Kalonga.
He also confirmed that proposals have been made by some quarters to replace Chirwa with former Flames coach Young Chimodzi who was fired as Flames coach recently but emphasized that the current technical panel is intact.
“As of now, the technical panel is still there doing there job” said Kalonga.
Chirwa guided Silver to a league championship two seasons ago.

Stain, should not be used as a scapegoat, maybe because he easily give-in to the demands of the supporters through the executive. Then players were nurtured in Silver family from tender ages…players could even be spotted from mayor’s trophy, limbe leaf trophy tournaments and slowly knitting with the veterans – ndiye umodzi umodzi timaziwa…ife…mwandikumbutsa…Kondwani Mdumuka, Davie Maleta, John Paipi, John Maduka, Charles malungo, Shilton Zuze, Willie Mkorongo, Gerald Chilomole, Ernest Chimangasasa, Patrick Mangani, Monya…if at all kugula kale mmatenga mafana ofewa ngati Gift Zakazaka, Jona Lungu, John Kathumba, Clement Mandala, Mapopa Msukwa…osati phale zikuchitikazi… I cry my beloved Silver….mukusewera mpira… Read more »
Koma koma kumeneko…ine ndi Maule na one family
Stain Chirwa should not be a scapegoat, the whole executive should go they are to blame for the current mess. They sold prominent players like Chawanangwa Kaonga, Frank Banda, Charles Swini, Kachimanga and Ju Chimodzi worth thousands of dollars. Where did the money go because they only replaced with only two players . So i feel that executive has a lot to explain other than hiding behind the back of coaches.
