Nyamilandu 4th term bid at FA Malawi continues to draw criticism: Kanyenda says no more ‘coronation’
Former football administrator David Kanyenda, has described the rising levels of aspirants for the post of Football Association of Malawi ( FAM) President, as a reflection of football community’s lack of confidence in the incumbent Mac Millan Walter Nyamilandu.

The former Mighty Be Forward Wanderers secretary and a private practising lawyer, took to social media that the emergence of more candidates challenging Nyamilandu is an indictment to the affiliates rigid insistence on a fourth term stance on the FAM boss.
Nyamilandu has also come under personal fire by many football fans commenting on Nyasa Times, who accuses him of running FAM as a kingdom.
Kanyenda said if Nyamilandu had not achieved anything in 12 years, in all probability he won’t in the next four years.
“We must thank him for his contribution but he ought to pave way for a successor. Am glad Mr Nyamilandu faces more of an election than a mere coronation this time around,” said Kanyenda.
He said the availability of alternative candidates is a healthy development for Malawi football administration.
Some of the aspirants who have joined the race are renowned banker Wilkins Mijiga, golfer and prominent private practice
lawyer John Gift Mwakhwawa, Allie Mwachande, Chikwawa United chairperson Owen Chomanika Owen Chomanika, Kelvin Mmangisa and goalkeeper legend Boniface Maganga.
Former footballers and administrators Henry Kaka Chibowa and Alick Tahuna have only been approached to stand.
Nyamilandu remains the firm favourite for the role as he has backing from the affiliates who are the voters.
Candidates are required to serve mainstream football in any capacity for at least five years going into an election.
