Lilongwe-based teen Adrian Kwelepeta was in the wee hours of Sunday crowned this year’s Sunbird Search for a Star winner in front of a strong audience at Capital Hotel.

He walked away with the K500 000 (US$1 176).
Asked what was going through his mind after winning, Adrian said: “I don’t know.”
“This competition has taught me a lot in as far as my music career is concerned. I can now boost to say I am a musician because I have learnt a lot,” he said.
Chisomo, also from the capital popuraly known as Chichi, scooped the second position and was magnanimous in defeat.
“Adrian deserved to win,” she sai describing him as a clean-cut singer.
Ruth Magona, representing the commercial city, Blantyre, finished third.
The competition which was inaugurated last year as E-wallet was first won by Wakhumbachi Kaluwa.
