Air Malawi to fly cancer stricken musician Zigoma to Tanzania

Malawi’s flag carrier Air Malawi has offered to fly gospel musician Geoffrey Zigoma who is battling with cancer to Tanzania for him to access good medical treatment.

Speaking while handing over two air tickets one for Zigoma and the other for a guardian to accompany him, Air Malawi Commercial Director Temwachi Changwa said, it is part of her company’s social responsibility to help people who are in Zigoma’s situation.

“As part of our corporate and social responsibility we have decided to send Zigoma to Tanzania to access cancer treatment and all we want is for him to be well,” said Changwa.

Zigoma: Needs help

She also reminded Malawians that it is not the first time for her company to involve itself in such a kind of developments.

“This is not the first time that we have donated air tickets, we have done so to many people. We assisted a cancer woman who went to Tanzania and she is back and well. We also assisted a child who had a brain tumour and went to South Africa,” said Changwa.

Zigoma who used to sing secular music before changing tune to join the gospel world says he is very grateful with the timely assistance from Air Malawi.

“I thank Air Malawi for their gesture and I ask God to bless the company abundantly,” said Zigoma.

Zigoma also thanked his fellow musician for the support rendered towards him as he is looking for support.

The musicians have been organizing a number of fundraising activities in support of Zigoma among them a football match which was played last week involving the musicians and Bullets F.C.

According to Zigoma, he has so far raised K400, 000.00 out of the needed K2 Million Kwacha for him to undergo operation in Tanzania.

Zigoma says the money will be used to pay for his hospital bills as well as other basic needs.
