Airborne thump Red Lions 3-0: Malawi TNM  Super League

Zomba based soldiers side Red Lions finished their weekend central region tour on a bad note as they suffered a humiliating 3-0 defeat in the hands of Rookies Airborne United on Sunday 7th, 2014 at the Chitowe Stadium.

Airborne registered one of their sweetest victories in the 2014-2015 K65 million TNM Super League Season through goals from Wacheta Mwenefumbo, Brave Vinkhumbo and former Silver Strikers Striker Asedi Ayami.

Red Lions Coach Collins Nkuna blamed the referee for poor officiation which resulted into their demolition.

The embarrassment came a day after winning their first assignment against Mafco F.C 1-0 at the same Stadium.

But Nkuna believes it was a successful trip having managed to collect three out of the possible six points.

Apart from poor officiation, Nkuna also attributed Sunday’s loss to fatigue after a tough match 24hrs earlier against Mafco.

“It was a successful trip but the referee costed us the game [against Airborne]. The red card that was given to our player frustrated the boys” Nkuna said.

He was however optimistic of shining again in their coming away games.

“We have more away games in the second half so we will work hard and we hope to do better. We will make sure that we forget that we are playing away and play as if we are at home” he said.

Airborne Rangers should expect another tough ride and prove that their victory was not a fluke against the Lions as they face Civo United at the Chitowe Stadium on Saturday.

Elsewhere on Sunday, Civo United beat Chikwawa United 2- 1 at Civo Stadium with Nelson Kangunje and Jabulani Linje on target for the civil servants.
