Ajax Cape Town sign Malawi star Ngalande

Ajax Cape Town have signed Malawi’s forward Robin Ngalande from Bidvest Wits.

South Africa’s sports publication Kickoff reported that Ngalande had swapped with Toriq Losper but the details of his deal were not revealed.

Ajax coach Ari Efstathiou is impressed to have landed the Malawian player who once played for Spanish top league side Atletico Madrid reserve side.

“We are very excited to have signed Robin for the upcoming season,” Ajax boss Ari Efstathiou says: “Even though he is only 21, he is an experienced player and will add huge value to our squad,” he said.

Ngalande confirmed in an interview with Nyasa Times that he has joined Ajax on a season loan deal.

But the Flames player complained of the freezing weather in Cape Town.

Last season the 21-year-old Malawian scored three goals in 12 games for the Students.

The player is among eight professional players called up by Malawi national football teach coach Young Chimodzi for the Benin third round Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on July 20.

He will also play for the Flames in a friendly game in Uganda on Tuesday.
