The law-enforcers are hunting for Masautso Phiri, Bonface Banda and Aaron Mwale, all from Zifa village, S/T/A Chisinga in the district.

Kasungu police Public Relations Officer, Edna Mzingwitsa told Nyasa Times, the suspects had tricked the deceased before killing her.

One of the suspects, according to Mzingwitsa, is a brother to the victim who has been identified as Eunice Phiri from Bokosi village, T/A Kaluluma in the district.

”On 23rd January, 2016 one of the suspects Masauko Phiri came with his two friends to the deceased’s house and tricked her that her son based in Zambia was about to commit suicide and they had come to fetch her,” explained Mzingwitsa.

”He (Phiri) even told her that their elder brother in Zambia had some bags of maize for her”.

The deceased agreed with the suspcts to go to Zambia along with her eight-year-old son who is also albino.

”They started off using the route which passes through Kasungu National Park. On the way the three suspects attacked the deceased but her son managed to escape,” added Mzingwitsa.

The son managed to reach home using the same route.

But whilst at home, Mzingwitsa said, the son could not explain properly what had happened.

”Instead people thought that his mother sent him back. Upon seeing that the deceased was not coming back home they became suspicious and sent somebody to check for her in Zambia but her
elder brother said that she did not visit his home”.

The deceased’s body was found by a cattle herder on 28th January. The body was found lying near a big rock within Kasungu National Park.

”Since the cattle herder was aware of her disappearance, he reported the issue to Zifa village headman who took up the matter with police. Police visited the scene and found the body in a decomposed state with both arms chopped off”.

Medical examination established that the deceased died due to severe loss of blood.

Police have since vowed to leave no stone unturned until the three fugitives are brought to justice.
