Ali Kaka pleads ‘not guilty’ to muder of 20 year-old Dave Kadzuwa
Businessperson Ali Kaka Chinemba has denied the murder charge in which he is accused of killing 20 year-old Davie Kadzuwa Banda with a pump gun in Manja Township, Blantyre last year.
Ali Kaka,35, appeared before High Court judge Dorothy Nyakaunda-Kamanga and entered a plea of “not guilty.”
The losing contestant in the Blantyre City South Constituency 2014 parliamentary race allegedly shot to death Kadzuwa after picking a quarrel over a wrongly parked lorry that was off-loading sand next to his house in Manja Township.
The deceased originally came from Chamtulo Village, Traditional Authority (T/A) Nankumba in Mangochi.
Following the incident, Chinamba handed himself over to police. He is currently on bail.
His lawyer Zwelithinin Chipembere said the case has been adjourned to July 22 to 24 for hearing.
Kaka once faced the arm of law in February 2012 when he was arrested together with lawyer Ralph Kasambara and three others for detaining and assaulting three people who reportedly attempted to assassinate Kasambara and petrol-bomb his offices and residence in Blantyre.
He was also once arrested at Chileka Airport for allegedly using his father’s passport to travel outside the country.
