All set for AMAA nominations, P-Square concert in Malawi

Malawi is set to host what is probably the biggest events in African film and music industries  Friday night.

The city is Malawi’s capital Lilongwe where the African Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) nominations will ba taking place as Nigerian music outfit P-Square are also set to perform.

The venues are Presidential Hotel and the Lilongwe Golf Club, respectively, and State President Joyce Banda is scheduled to grace the AMAA nominations at the Bingu International Conference Centre.

The AMAA nominations, which apart from the sensational Afro-Pop singers, have also brought into the Southern African state celebrities from other African countries, which will include South Africa’s gospel singer Rebecca Malope.

Local acts billed to perform alongside P-Square are Piksy, Sally Nyundo and Fortress. The organisers have since dropped ‘Zili ndi iwe’ hit singer Maskal from the line up.

P-Square, are popular for their songs Forever, Chop my Money, Beautiful Onyinye and, recently, Alingo, among other hits.

In a brief interview shortly after arriving at Kamuzu International Airport through South African Airways, the duo said: “We are happy to be in Malawi for the first time, and please Malawians get to Golf Club or live to remember missing this big show.”
