Announcing a new column on Nyasa Times: ‘The Loose Cannon’
Nyasa Times will be carrying a new column titled: ‘The Loose Cannon’ by Thom Chiumia. It will be about my reflections and analysis on issues without fear or favour. I will not gossip about issues. I will discuss them and indeed I will be a ‘Loose Cannon’ . Tighten your belts. Look out for my first Newslog in not too distant future –Thom Chiumia.

Thom, What we Malawians are missing is that after analysis of the issues, analysts fall short of putting relevant questions squarely to those that must answer and demand answers and action. Are we not tired of talk…talk…talk??? We should stop just talking about issues and begin to trace and ensure closure to issues. Is it not strange that the Jumbe/Bwanali case should take so many years only to resurface now, why now??? Are there ways we can get the Attorney General to account for such inefficiencies? is there a way to coerce our state president (if he has no skeletons to hide) to come in the open and make a statement that those accounting officers who overspent their budget in ministries in this year’s budget should go…terminated (not transferred) for gross inefficiency? Transferring failed officials can never be an answer Mr president, and it baffles me to see how our government cant fire dead wood, but transfer, Oh my foot!!! When staff go on strikes, we hear as arguments that the salaries cant meet the cost of basic goods, fine but no one asks if these staff are in fact delivering. We need an output-based government, with measurable outputs and timelines otherwise Mr president you are just burdening the poor Malawians with hefty taxes for salaries of people who deliver zero…!!! Remember the payers of the taxes are the poor Malawians who do not even have a small regular income, so next time these employed- but- do- little servants of ours complain about salaries, ask them also about output as well or let them ship-out, over 70% of us are unemployed and many of us can take over their jobs at those small salaries without asking us the poor Malawians to go deeper in our pockets. Thom, action, not just talk!!!
Try to give us authentic stories, that have been well given to you. Not quarter baked stories you have just heard. Don’t be another Daily Sun(South African newspaper that is for gossip(Mangobozi as they call it)).Good Luck.Hahahahahaahaha.
Bring it up, bro
Publish midweek. We have enough weekend material – muckracker, cut the chaff, bottom-up, my diary, backbencher, rawstuff. Nga umo bayowoyela banyane, tikhumbenge mazgo ghahene cha, just facts, analysis. If you can, please block hate comments
Welcome. But make sure you “write twice and publish once” look for the word ‘ly’ in your dictionary if its there. Sitikufuna chikhathu (zosapsya)
Tamasakhani maina a relevance to Malawians. What is a canon to a Malawian, be creative to your readers. Names like The brewing calabash, Titilating clarion, the Timely Rooster. Canon ndife a Arsenal chani?
Panyeeeeeeengo ngati inoyo, pantuuuuuuundu wathu wachi malawi tikuyenere tiwerengedi zimenezi.
Mr Loose Canon, uyambire ya Kudontoni man kkkkkkkk.
Loose it men!
Welcome. Please, don’t use derogatory and insults.
But dont confuse malawians. Try to bring facts and not destruction. I remember in 2012 when callista got married to our late president we were told that she was pregnant just to make pple insult them. This is not good , we are all respectable pple who needs th truth to be told and not kuchititsana manyazi.
