Armed robbers terrorize Thyolo – Malawi Police

Malawi Police have confirmed that armed robbers have this week terrorised the southern tea growing district of Thyolo starting by stealing a vehicle which they used in robbing Luchenza Filling Station and People’s shop.

Thyolo Police spokesman, Edith Likaka said the robberies which started on Wednesday night when the robbers stole a Toyota VVTI registration number MJ 5941.

Likaka said the robbers were reported driving the same vehicle when they robbed the filling station and shop.

“The robbers stole the vehicle in Luchenza and the owner reported that they were six people, but when the robbed Petroda Filling Station they were two, but four people were seen at Thyolo Peoples Shop. One had a fire arm while the others had pangas.

“They have stolen K420, 000 from Luchenza Petroda Filling Station and have taken K390, 000 from Thyolo Peoples shop. Currently we are investigating the cases,” said Likaka.

She, however, said no-one has been arrested in connection with the string of robberies, but confirmed that the stolen vehicle has been found at Smallholder Tea Company area in the same district.—Malawi News Agency
