Ashimolowo expected to visit Malawi, KICC launches in Lilongwe

Kingsway International Christian Centre (KICC), a Christian ministry founded by a United Kingdom (UK) based Nigerian pastor, renowned for his powerful faith building messages,  Matthew Ashimolowo, is opening its doors in Lilongwe ahead of rumours that its founder who is also the church senior Pastor is due to visit the country soon.

Speaking in an interview with Malawi News Agency (MANA), Resident pastor for the church in Malawi, MacDuff Phiri, said all is set for the function.

The opening ceremony is expected to take place this Sunday at Bridgeview Hotel in Lilongwe.

“The function will start at 8:00am with worship and bible teaching. It will be a church service fully filled with the Holy Spirit and those who will come will be blessed with the message,” he said.

He added that KICC will be running a Bible school to be called Kingsway Bible Institute where Christians will be taught in areas of spiritual empowerment.

Ashimolowo: Malawi connection

Each Christian is encouraged to enroll with the Bible school.

According to Phiri, KICC believes that every man and woman is born with the latent ability to achieve great thing which he said unfortunately, not everyone realizes his or her true potential in life.

As such, Phiri said KICC strives to help people to discover God and realize their true potential through the unsearchable riches of Christ.

With a vision to ‘Grow Up, Grow Big and Grow Together’, KICC sees the kingdom of God extended as people grow spiritually, in number and as a family.

The vision helps people to grow up in knowledge, perspective, conviction skill and character in the word of God, fulfilling the great commission using every medium available such as television, radio and newspapers to evangelize the world, as well as to grow in unity and family spirit.

KICC resident pastor in Malawi, who is currently working for Christian Aid in Lilongwe, said the coming of the church to Malawi is a result of Ashimolowo’s vision that time has come for Malawi to have a KICC branch.

“In fact it is Ashimolowo himself who had a vision that a branch has to be opened in a country called Malawi. I hope that God has a purpose for this,” said Phiri.

With the coming of KICC to Lilongwe, Malawi becomes the fifth country in Africa to have a KICC branch. Other countries in which KICC is ministering in Africa are Ghana, Nigeria, Namibia and South Africa.

Asked to say when Ashimolowo will come to Malawi, Phiri says: “What I can tell you is that very soon he will be coming, I may not have the exact dates but he will be coming and once the dates are set, I will let you know.”

KICC is one of the fastest growing churches in the UK, founded in September 1992 in London. By then the church had 300 members. To date its membership has grown to over 4, 000 in London alone. It’s coming to Malawi coincides with its 20th anniversary.

Ashimolowo, who preaches that God wants people to be rich, is the author of 70 books including the highly acclaimed power of positive prayer Bible and the 10Ms of Money.

His sermons and prayer nights draw thousands of people all over the UK each month. He preaches daily on Winning Ways on Malawi’s public broadcaster MBC TV Monday to Friday from 4:30pm.
