An 18-year-old boy has been admitted to Kamuzu Central Hospital (KCH) after he was severely assaulted by a group of assailants who chopped off his genitals.
The incident occurred on Monday evening at Nkhono Fishing beach, inside Illovo Sugar Estates in Dwangwa, Nkhotakota district, police have confirmed.
Currently, Nkhunga Police Station has managed to recover the genitals and arrested one of the suspects while others are on the run.
The station’s Public Relations Officer, Laban Makalani told Nyasa Times that the assailants had approached a certain fisherman within the area and offered to sell him fresh male private parts which they alleged to had in possession.
The fisherman mobilized members of the general public in an attempt to arrest the criminals.
”In the process they managed to apprehend one and recovered the genitals,” explained Makalani.
The victim, name withheld, is as a bicycle taxi operator (Kabaza)at Dwangwa Trading Centre.
”The victim was discovered while lying in deep agony in a nearby bush.”
He hails from Kamphata village in the area of T/A Chimombo in Nsanje district.
Makalani added: ”During the attack, the victim sustained heavy cuts in the head and limbs including a broken jaw beside the genitalmutilation.”
He was rushed to the hospital by members of the general public with the help of KK Security Officers who operate within the sugar estate.
”He was first rushed to Matiki Health Center (located within the estate) where he was referred to Nkhotakota District Hospital before being further referred to Kamuzu Central Hospital where he iscurrently receiving treatment,” he said.
The assailant, who has been arrested is identified as Rangerson Mashikudu, aged 41 years of Nkhono village in the area of T/A Tengani in Nsanje district.
His accomplices (names withheld) are currently on the run.
Makalani revealed that medical personnel have failed to fix the man’s genitals.
Meanwhile, the law-enforcers have launched a serious man hunt and have charged the arrested suspect with an offence of attempted murder under section 223 of the Penal Code.Follow and Subscribe Nyasa TV :
