Atupele to wed Angella Zachepa
Atupele Muluzi, the president and torchbearer of the United Democratic Front (UDF) in the 2014 tripartite election and his long-time partner, former parliamentarian Angella Zachepa, are set to wed this year, Nyasa Times understands.
The two traditionally engaged in a private ceremony and together have two children.
According to family sources, the marriage has been tentatively scheduled before year end.
“Further details about the wedding day will be announced in due course but plans are underway,” said a family source.
He said: “The two families are wishing them every happiness.”
Atupele’s phone could not be reached as he was reported to be in South Africa. His personal assistant, Charles Mkozomba, could not comment on the reports.
And UDF officials did not have “sufficient information” to comment.
Atupele turns 35 next month while Zachepa is 30.
The two have two children together.
Angela was elected as a Member of Parliament for Blantyre North East at the age of 21, making her the youngest MP ever in Malawi but lost her seat in 2009.
Relations say the couple is “excited” with the plans to wed.
