Epac United team coach Albus Makawa, expressed his happiness over his club’s honours at the TNM Super League price presentation ceremony in Lilongwe on Feb 15.

Makawa saw his side receive over half a million Kwacha after it was presented with three awards as the fair play team, produced a golden boot winner (Ishmael Thindwa) and the best technical panel. They received the following sums for the accolade, MK 500 000, MK 100 000 and MK 80 000.

In an interview with Nyasa Times, Makawa said that he was very excited to be honoured in their debutant season of flagship league and that would motivate them.

“To get these awards it’s something very exciting,” he said.

When asked on how his charges are preparing for the Presidential Cup, Makawa said he was taking the competition as “an opportunity to win silverware.”

Meanwhile, Mzuzu based giants Moyale Barracks will miss their key players in the Presidential Cup and at the beginning of the league as nine stars in their squad will be undergoing military training.

The Kaning’ina Boys assistant coach, Charles Kamanga told Nyasa Times that the club has already find replacements.

“It’s true that will miss nine members of our squad, but that will not disturb our season in anyway because we are very prepared with players we have in our squad,” said Kamanga.

Amongst the players who will be out for over five months is their talismanic striker (last season’s golden boot chaser) Gastin Simkonda.

when asked on whether his departure would close the goal scoring taps for the Kaning’ina boys. Kamanga dismissed the claims and say that his side has a lot of players who can score goals.

Some of the notable players who will be out for action include John Soko, Antony Manda, Olisen Nkhwazi and Eddie Chirwa.
