Axed Escom player in a brawl with team manager

It has been learnt that axed Escom United defender Chipiliro Jose exchanged blows with the team’s team manager Shadreck Mpesi over delayed payments.

According to one player for Escom United, things went sour the moment Mpesi told the chopped players that they would not receive their dues until this coming Tuesday February 13th 2012.

“We were all not happy with the way we were treated by the team manager. They told us to come on Friday to get our dues but instead of telling us the truth we waited for hours just to be told that we come on Tuesday,” said the player.

He went on to state that this development led to many players showering insults to the team manager for mistreating them.

Escom United: Massive clearance

“Chipiliro Jose was very angry with the team manager that he grabbed him on the neck. They exchanged blows for some minutes before some some players came to their rescue,” said the player.

Jose was quoted in The Sunday Times that, ” When you are being ill-treated what do you expect? l had to fight for what is mine. L have a family to feed so there is no point for some one to be holding
up my salary.”

Jose also told the paper that the club owes him money amounting to K380,000 and vowed to fight on until he gets paid.

Mpesi refused to tell his side of the story.

Escom United axed more than ten key players in the likes of Chimango Kayira, Ndaziona Chatsalira, Chipiliro Josey, Noel Mkandawire, Maupo Msowoya for demanding of their unpaid dues.

On Saturday Escom United coach Charles Manda stressed that they they have a long way to go this season after being ousted in the Fama Top Eight .
