Singani  Lemani, a sister to former  United Democrtaic Front (UDF) campaign director late Rev. Dr. Dumbo Lemani, died Sunday of a heart problem at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital in Blantyre.
Muluzi said  Lemani-Singani, who was affectionately known as ‘Anambewe’,  as a patriot who dedicated her life to serving the country.

He said ‘Anambewe’s’ death is  a great loss to the nation since she  had made massive contribution towards the country’s national development growth, particularly when she served as  legislator.

Muluzi said the ex-MP was “a great character and a memorable personality.”

A family member, Linga Lemani told the gathering that the family had lost its pillar describing her as a father, humble and always jovial even when things seemed not to be okay and that she loved everyone.

According to the family,  apart from politics, she worked as an Airhostess, a nurse,  before she became an MP in 2009 and was appointed Deputy Minister in late Bingu wa Mutharika’s administration.

The First Lady Gertrude Mutharika also joined mourners to pay their last respect.

Anambewe was born on March 31, 1946 and she is survived by five chidren. She was laid to rest in Makupete village, Sub Traditional Authority Ntholowa in Zomba district.

  1. I knew her as she has been described above. She was also a good listener and served as member of the board to several statutory organisations. RIP Anambewe
