Battle for stakes rolls off this weekend: Malawi Presidential Cup

The 2013 Presidential Cup rolls off into the national phase this weekend with all Blantyre based outfits that qualified to the round of 16 playing away in the mouth-watering fixtures.

The game involving Blantyre based Azam Tigers and Karonga United will be played tomorrow, Friday at Mzuzu University. The game was scheduled for Saturday but it has been brought forward due to shortages of football pitches, according Football Association of Malawi’s (Fam) Competitions Manager, Gomezgani Zakazaka.

Also playing on Friday is Silver Strikers and Epac FC at Civo stadium. The winner will play Big Bullets on Sunday at the same venue.

On Saturday, Mafco will play Blue Eagles at Chitowe stadium while Chinamwali FC hosts Mighty Wanderers at Zomba Community Ground.

Mikundi will host Mzuzu United at Civo stadium whereas Kabwafu will play Chinangwa Madrid at Mzuzu Stadium.

On Sunday, military outfits Cobbe Barracks and Red Lions clash at Zomba Community ground while Moyale Barracks and Kamuzu Barracks will battle it out at Mzuzu stadium.

The quarter finals will be played next Wednesday.

The winner between Tigers and Karonga will play the winner between Mikundi and Mzuzu United, the winner between Mafco and Blue Eagles will play the winner between Moyale and Kamuzu Barracks.

While the winner between Chinamwali and Wanderers will date Cobbe or Red Lions with the winner between Silver/Epac and Bullets facing the winner between Kabwafu and Chinangwa Madrid.
