Wanderers have secure a one-year K70 million sponsorship from Japanese second car dealers, Be Forward and there have been fevered speculation that their new sponsors demanded change of colours to orange.

“The team will maintain the blue and white colours,” said club’s marketing committee chairperson Collins Chitimbe.

However,  Chitimbe said the  blues will also incorporate brand colours of Be Forward on their new kits.

“We will also be using Be Forward-branded uniforms in other games,” he said.

Wanderers, who are affectionately called the Nomads, unveiled the sponsorship at their Wanderers Club House in Blantyre on Friday afternoon through their general secretary Mike Butao.

“The sponsorship is initially on a one-year trial period. Upon successfully convincing the sponsor through both proper management of the sponsorship and good performance on and off the pitch, the sponsorship will be extended for many more years,” Butao explained.

Chairman of Wanderers board of trustee, Rash Gaffer asked the club to prudently use the sponsorship money.

He said its time for Wanderers to strengthen the squad and return to the positive platform.

Wanderers, whose long time sponsor MTL pulled out three seasons ago were last sponsored for a season in 2013 by Carlsberg Malawi Limited.

  3. This is good news for Nyerere. Local companies what are you doing just watching teams like Bullets and others struggling with sponsorships. Give back your profits through supporting football.

  4. But why do we insist on naming our teams based on the sponsor’s name. This does not happen elsewhere. How many times have teams like Real Madrid, Barcelona, Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United, etc. changed sponsors? But you will never hear that they have changed their names as well. This practice should stop.
