Bingu Tigresses maintain top spot in OG Issa league

Bingu Tigresses continues to occupy the top  place in the OG Issa Southern Region Netball League after two victories over the weekend.

Tigresses, who are basking comfortably on the top slot with 21 points having notched 914 goals from 8 games walloped Chitakale 112-12 baskets on Sunday at Blantyre Youth Centre  before demolishing Aquad 151-5 baskets in their second encounter.

As usual, the Presidential Netball Champions were on cloud nine with the likes of Sindi ‘Sniper’ Simutowe, who was the toast of the day in scoring baskets.

Apart from Simutowe, some of the notable names, who were on top of their game, were Lauren Ngwira and Beatrice Kadango.

Tigresses coach Charles Mhango praised her charges  for maintaining the top slot and vowed to stay there.

Double

Mhango also hinted that their aim was to clinch the league on top of the Presidential Cup, so that they can have a double.

The current league holders, Escom Sisters are chasing them on second position with 21 points as well but they have an inferior goal  aggregate.

The electricians have managed to slot 627 baskets from 7 games.

In their Sunday’s games, Escom massacred Prison 92-10 baskets while MTL Queens, who are coming third on the log table claimed victory to Glass bank with a 60-12 baskets margin.

In other matches, Chilomoni lost 28-41 baskets to Chitakale.

Southern Region Netball League general secretary Annie Hanjahanja was delighted with the progress of the league so far but hinted that with Malawi Queens’s engagements’, some fixtures will be changed.

Malawi Queens is scheduled to leave for Swaziland on September, 1 2012 to take part in this year’s Cosana Tournament.
