Bingu Tigresses trounce MTL: OG Issa netball league
Highly flying Bingu Tigresses yet again underscored their superiority over MTL Queens in the OG Issa Southern Region Netball League encounter after beating them 50-31 on Wednesday at Blantyre Youth Centre.
Tigress’s victory means that they are second on the log table with 60 points behind Escom Sisters, who are on top slot having amassed 63 points.
The Kau-Kau ladies, who will take on Escom Sisters in a league decider this coming Saturday, pressed for an early lead and they got it courtesy of rising shooter Sindi ‘Sniper’ Simutowe and slippery Ellen
Chibokho.
The combination of the two was so dreadful that it confused MTL Queens defence, who succumbed to pressure to lose the first quarter by 12-8.

Realizing the danger MTL Queens through their attacker Memory Mwazani, Thandiwe Galeta and Riana Mtenje tried to come back into the game but struggled to penetrate through Tigresses defence which was well marshaled by youngsters Lauren ‘China’ Ngwira and Florence Chirwa.
Come second quarter, Tigresses showed no mercy as Simutowe continued where they had left in the first quarter by notching more baskets as her team went on to win the second quarter by 26-15 before extending the lead in the third quarter to 39-24.
Bingu Tigresses coach Charles Mhango said he was happy with his charges of salvaging their reputation despite playing under pressure after a long break following their ban while MTL Queens captain Joana Kachilika said they committed unnecessary errors, which she said were costly for them.
Southern Region Netball League general secretary Annie Hanjahanja urged Malawians to come in
their large numbers on Saturday to witness the final match between Bingu Tigresses and Escom Sisters.
Hanjahanja said there are a number of activities which have been lined up before the final game.
For instance, there will be a match in the morning around 9:30am between Chilomoni Sisters and Aquaid, Rock Queens versus Chiradzulu and Prison Sisters and Triggers.
She disclosed that the winning team will take the trophy for good without returning it next season.
