Bishop Zuza dies after dies after crash in Chikangawa

Chairperson  of the Episcopal Conference of Malawi (ECM) His Grace Bishop Joseph Mukasa Zuza has died in a car accident.

According to confirmed information by ECM, Zuza , who was heading Mzuzu Dioecese, died in a car
accident in Chikangawa in Mzimba as he was going to Mzuzu, his base.

He was driving alone.

“He passed on while being attended to in Mzuzu” Communications Secretary of the Episcopal Conference of Malawi (ECM), Father Andrew Kaufa, said in a media statement.

A rift between late president Bingu wa Mutharika and the Catholic Church increased when Bishop Zuza gave a public speech in front of the president, saying  several times that those who believe themselves to be perfect and to have no need of advice are perfect fools and blatantly called late President Mutharika ‘Chindele cha kufikapo’ in 2011.

He bluntly said in late Mutharika’s presence that he should stop gagging the civil society, the media and the faith community, saying they had a role to play in safeguarding the hard-won democracy and the rule of law.

Zuza made the remarks at the National Day of Prayers , saying any person who thinks is always perfect is wrong.

He said that those that believe are perfect than others are even worse.

The bishop intended the speech to be a general criticism of the way the country is led, but the president took it as a personal affront. Bingu “never missed an opportunity to attack the churches, without any respect,” Montfort missionary Fr. Piergiorgio Gamba told Fides news agency.

May his soul rest in peace.

Nonsenu amene munanyoza Inca ya Bingu Chaka Coe ndichino muonanso mumaona ngati imfa imanzuna inunso mumve kuwawa liner Ife tinamva ndi Inca ya Great son of Malawi Full of Developmental vision for his country RIP Bingu.

  22. His Grace was a good God’s messenger who stood not just for us in Mzunotzu diocese but for all the people of Malawi. He did not play politics and he stood up for us the week. May his soul rest in internal peace.

  23. A big loss My His Soul Rest In Peace. Fikani makora, unalimbana nako kulimbana kwambwino kalandireni mphoto yanu.

  24. oh! my beloved MW! you are losing productive citizens thru road, disaster accidents etc. GOD HAVE MERCY. RIP bishop zuza

  25. I have always said that nyasatimes are far from professional reporting and Infact there is no reporter and editor, so sad.

  26. Chindere chakufikapo! Just go thru all the comments so far posted and compare them to what u have written! Shame on u! Be converted and live in the Lord! May the soul of the Bishop Rest In Eternal Peace.

  27. Chindere chakufikapo, you have gone too far!! Do you have evidence that those people killed Bingu. Let us not discuss irrelevant issues. We are mourning the Bishop if you can not then you better be quiet.

  28. Nayenso chindele chamufikapo. The is nobody in the world who is authorized to call someone CHINDELE.

Nice trip Mr Zuza ndi ufuti wanu uja, we will meet there!!! I hope mwachipedza chindere chija.

    1. Kirininti whatever your is you will be dead within the next 24 hours and you will not be a tumbuka .
You do not deserve to share this world with normal human beings

  29. Rest in Peace indeed. May God comfort the bereaved family members. May the peace of God that surpasses human understanding rule in their hearts in Jesus might name, Amen

  30. I beg to differ with the reporter. Bishop Zuza, became famous as a bishop of Catholic church, not because he said something to late Bingu . Catholic bishops are known. I would have loved to see the reporter giving us the life of Bishop Zuza, year he became priest and parishes he served and where he was born and more light on what caused the accident, rather than talking irrelevant things.

  31. May the same God who will rest the soul of our Bishop Zuza forgive you “Chindere Chakufikapo” for you don’t know what you are saying, Can we conclude that what you have commented portrays uchindere wako, as per your name? Remember that Nabal acted cruelly to David’s men in the Bible, and his wife told the men not to be surprised as Nabal’s actions were in line with the meaning of his name. So for you, it’s not too late…… just change your name and repent. Then you can stop giving bad and destructive comments. But as long as you maintain your name of “Chindere Chakufikapo” no good thing can come from you!

  32. Bishop Zuza he didn’t have time to eat corrupt money no wonder he stood for the people of Malawi fearlessly. RIP Bishop

  33. MWAWANTHU, CHALO NTCHINONO, A ZUZA TIKUMULILANI CHIFUKWA CHA NTCHITO YINU YIWEMI YA CHIUTA, MUKASUSKANGA APO MUNTHU WAKUBUDA, CHIUTA WAMUPOKELENI A BISHOP, PAMA BISHOP GHOSE MWANGUMA MUDANGILILI WANKHONGONO. TIKULILA ISE. PUMULANI MUMUTENDE.

  35. Too sad. The nation has lost one of greatest sons, May we avoid bad coments here people of God, May the soul of our beloved bishop rest in peace

  36. Nsana wa Petulo you are a hypocrite . You say you do not cerebrate when someone dies and yet you cerebrated in bottlestores the day Bingu passed on. Yes we shall all die but that can not stop me to say Zuza had a very bad mouth not befitting that of a unifying bishop. Chindere is not a word a genuine bishop can say to a head of state. PAC, Mwakasungula, Zuza, you killed my Bingu.

  37. Tikulila tizakumusangaso yayi munthu muwemi nga ni uyu.tikulila, tikulila, tikulila.fumu mpokeleleni.

  38. What a loss to catholic community may the almighty father god comfort catholics broken hearts-RIP

  39. If u write watsala so and so what about u? Are u wamuyaya. Bwanji kodi basi kumangofunilana zoipa. Simoyo wabwino umenewo. We are all on the same journey palibe otsala. Think before commenting. Imfa ndi yowawa kwa osiyidwa. Its not nice at al.

  40. Guys iwe chindere chakufikapo may The Lord forgive you! Let’s not mek stupid comments on death issues. MAY HIS SOUL REST IN PEACE.

  41. This story lacks a lot. It’s more of history of the man than news of the accident. Does not say what happened, time etc. Even the sense of coming from “kalonga” instead of Karonga through Chikangawa to Mzuzu…….. and access instead of assess……. Does one pass through Chikangawa from Karonga to Mzuzu?

    1. My friend u r very right…in fact i am very disappointed on how Nyasa can go so low as to be so shallow in its news! It simply lacks a lot to say the least!

  42. My sincere condolences to the Catholic church in Malawi, his colleagues and family. He’s died in the process of rendering his service to God’s people who have been stricken with the big calamity. May His Soul Rest in Eternal Peace

    1. It’s only fools like you that can celebrate the death of a person. If you wish Mwakasungula dead you might as well be surprised to see the idiots you support dying earlier than him. You might even die earlier yourself. Our life is in the hands of God. If you own life, then lucky you. As for me I don’t know who dies next and I will never celebrate the death of a person even if he hated me or belongs to a tribe that hates my tribe. RIP dear bishop ZUZA.
