Blantyre derby showdown: Bullets v Escom

The TNM Super League will reach the theatrical stage on Friday when holders Escom United clash with Big Bullets in an eagerly-anticipated Blantyre derby showdown  at Kamuzu stadium.

The electricians will be heading into the  derby date  fresh from a 2-1 defeat in the hands of much improved Azam Tigers FC last Monday in another local derby.

Escom United coach Charles Manda knows a win will boost their chances to defend their title, which is slowly gripping from their hands.

The electricias ares lying on sixth position with 24 points from 15 games while Mafco still tops the log table with 27 points.

Some soccer pundits say Escom need to pull up their socks for them to defend the title because their display against Azam Tigers was awful.

It will require the untiring efforts of veteran players like Charles Swini, Kondwani Gawani, Noel ‘Amfumu’ Mkandawire and youthful Young Chimodzi Junior, Chimango Kaira, Ndaziona Chatsalira for them to have a tantalising glimpse of the future.

However, Big Bullets should not be written off having secured their first victory under the tultulage of Edington Ng’onamo last Saturday. Bullets won 1-0 to Embangweni United.

The People’s team appear to have shaken off the spirits of first round scrappy performance.

Other fixtures on Saturday, inform Mighty Wanderers will host Mafco Fc at Kalulu stadium,as soldiers will have to explode gun shots in Balaka during Red Lions and Cobbe match.

In the capital city, soccer fans will have to chose either to go to Civo stadium to watch team of the moment Epac Fc or some miles away to witness Blue Eagles and Civo United in another local derby for the capital city giants.

In Mzuzu, Embangweni United have to recover quickly from their miserable trip from the Commercial city, where they lost both of their matches against Bullets and Blantyre United.

The Mzimba based out-fit will take on Zomba United at Mzuzu stadium.

The battle of points continues on Sunday, with games of the week between Silver Strikers and Azam Tigers expected to take place at Silver stadium.

Twenty four hours, after tussling with Wanderers in Nchalo, Mafco should brace themselves with another huge mountain to climb on,as they will take on Blantyre United at Kamuzu stadium.

The last fixture is between Moyale and Zomba United at Mzuzu stadium.
