Blantyre ‘Matofototo’ queen character questionable
A few days after she was crowned Malawi commercial capital, Blantyre ‘Matofotofo’ queen, Nyasa Times has received disturbing information that Madalo Chimalizeni should not have been Miss True African Queen after all in as far as character is concerned.
A close family source to Chimalizeni, who stays with her in the high density area of Machinjiri (Khama Area), says that the 29-year old woman has a tainted character and wondered how the organizers of the event went ahead to crown her queen.
The source says that until two months ago, Chimalizeni was co-habiting with one Noel Chitenje in another high density township of Chiwembe within Blantyre.
However, the two separated following Madalo’s behaviour of ‘frequenting public places’ and beer drinking culture.
Our informant says that Chimalizeni has a child but Nyasa Times was unable to establish if Chitenje is the biological father of the boy.
The sources say that Chimalizeni is normally all over all the drinking joints in Blantyre and has on several occasions been involved in wrecking other people’s marriages.
Information gathered says that about 5 years ago, Madalo Chimalizeni was forced to flee the country to the United Kingdom after she was accused of trying to snatch a married man in the same area of Khama of Machinjiri.
Madalo’s father, now late was a prominent businessman at Khama Tradiding Centre in Machinjiri, owning a maize-mill among many other businesses.
Our source says that before fleeing to the UK, Madalo was nearly hacked by the woman who complained bitterly to Madalo’s parents that she was disturbing her marriage.
According to sources, Chimalizeni, a Human Resource Managament student at the Centre for Continuing Education at the University of Malawi’s Polytechnic only went back to school after her return from the UK when the issue of snatching the husband in Machinjiri had died down.
The information received by Nyasa Times on Chimalizeni is one of the many on complaints that have dogged the beauty contest industry in Malawi.
Last year, organizers of the Miss True African Queen contest were forced to dethrone Miss ‘Matofotofo’ Lilongwe Florence Banda after she was discovered to have been involved in a controversial sexual relationship with another married man.
