Blantyre Utd suspends coach Leo Mpulula

Blantyre United Football Club has suspended its head coach Leo Mpulula, club General Secretary Malekano Chisoma has confirmed.

Mpulula: Suspended

“We have indeed suspended Mr. Mpulula and it is a three week suspension,” said Chisoma.

He could however not be drawn to comment on the reasons behind Mpulula’s suspension.

“I cannot be able to disclose the reasons right now but as a club, we will issue a press statement soon that will be circulated and it will
highlight all the reasons behind the suspension,” he said.

The suspension comes barely few days after the Football Association of Malawi (FAM) issued a warning letter to Mpulula.

The association faulted Mpulula for attacking and insulting match officials during a media pre-match interview prior to their match
against Master Security Services on 20th May 2017.

Mpulula accused central region referees of being corrupt and incompetent which is contrary to Article 57 if FAM’ Disciplinary Code
of Conduct.

He has since been warned to desist from uttering such comments saying a repeat of similar remarks will attract hefty sanctions.

Meanwhile, Mpulula through a local radio has refused to comment anything on his alleged suspension and said he will be able to comment once he officially receive the suspension letter.
